Last Updated:  July 6, 2017

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes what information Georgetown Chorale (“Chorale”, “we” or “us”) collects and how it’s used, shared and protected.  Note that any capitalized terms not defined in this Policy have the meanings set forth in our Terms of Use.  In using, accessing or browsing the Site (www.georgetownchorale.org)  or any services made available through a link from the Site, you agree to be legally bound by this Policy and the Terms, as in effect at the time you access the Site.  This Policy also covers how Chorale treats the personal information that it collects from its patrons in any other manner.

1.  Information Collection and Use

The primary purpose of the Site is providing information regarding Chorale, not to gather personal information.  We and third-party service providers do, however, gather some personal information that is described below, as well as certain anonymous usage information.

Personal Information

Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable, such as your name, address, email address or phone number, or other information that is not otherwise publicly available, including information relating to your usage of Chorale services and products or your donations to Chorale.

When you make a donation or purchase of Chorale services or products online or otherwise by check or credit card, request information about our services or products, contact Chorale with a question or suggestion, or participate in certain surveys, Chorale or its independent contractors, on behalf of Chorale, collect personal information.

How Information is Collected and Used

Chorale or its independent contractors may ask you to provide specific information. Depending on the nature of your interaction with Chorale, Chorale or Squarespace, as host of the Site on behalf of Chorale, may ask you for information such as your name, phone number, physical address, birth date, company related information, email address, credit card information including expiration date and billing address, and product preferences. Such information may be provided to Stripe, Inc., a third-party service provider, or other third parties for purposes of processing a credit card payment, handling shipping, or otherwise taking action on behalf of Chorale in connection with a transaction with you.  Such information also may be used by Chorale to assist you with ticket purchases, contributions, or other matters, including to contact you regarding Chorale products, services or special events.  For example, if you supply us with your postal address or email address, you may receive periodic mailings or emails from us with information on new products and services or upcoming events, subject to your right to opt out from such mailings or emails as provided in Section 5 below.  Calls to your telephone number may be made to assist in responding to queries you have made or possible issues that have arisen in connection with any potential, pending or completed donation or purchase by you or your use or attempted use of the Site or any products or services offered by Chorale. Under certain less common circumstances, such as where required for tax purposes, we may ask you for other information, such as your social security number. In such cases, we will inform you of the reason we are requesting that information and how it will be used.

Contractors may use Cookies, tracking tags and other technology and provide Chorale with certain information derived therefrom.  Squarespace may use cookies and other tracking mechanisms across the Site. These technologies work by sending a small amount of data from our Site that is stored on your computer's hard drive ("cookies"). Our Site can then read this cookie, which helps Squarespace keep track of how you use our Site and remember your preferences, and, on Chorale’s request, Squarespace may share aggregated information with Chorale regarding use or preferences of users of the Site. We may use such aggregate information in determining how to enhance your Site experience or to improve our products or services.  Many web browsers accept cookies by default but contain an option for you to turn off cookie acceptance if you prefer. If you turn off acceptance, there may be some features of our Site that will not be available to you and some webpages may not display properly.

In addition, Squarespace may incorporate tracking or measurement tools (known as "tracking tags", "web beacons," "action tags" or "single-pixel gifs") to track, analyze and improve the performance of the Services. If you utilize Services that are linked to these tracking tags, Squarespace may provide non-personal information to Chorale about your activity, which we may utilize to increase the effectiveness of our Services and offerings for you.

Cookies, tracking tags, and embedded third-party features provide overall usage patterns for our Site that Squarespace or Chorale potentially can use for analysis and to provide personalized services and advertising content.

In the case of Squarespace, Stripe, Inc., or any other third-party that may collect your information in connection with providing services through the Site or otherwise on behalf of Chorale, the collection and use of the information will be governed by that third party’s privacy policy, which may differ from Chorale’s privacy policy. Chorale is not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services or the use of the data collected by them, except to the extent the data is provided to Chorale.
