Dr. Richard Giarusso, Music Director
Richard Giarusso enjoys a rewarding career as a singer, conductor, educator, and scholar. Praised by The Washington Post for his “expressive and perfectly controlled voice,” he is in high demand as a solo and ensemble artist throughout the greater Washington area. As a conductor, he leads the Georgetown Chorale in northwest DC. Guest conducting appearances have included the Washington Bach Consort, The New Opera (Williamstown, MA), Hubbard Hall Opera Theatre (Cambridge, NY), the Aoede Consort (Albany, NY), and CONCORA (Hartford, CT). Dr. Giarusso holds degrees in music and English from Williams College and the PhD in historical musicology from Harvard University. An award-winning teacher, he is Chair of the Department of Musicology at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.

Andrew Jonathan Welch, Assistant Director/Keyboard Artist
Andrew Jonathan Welch has been keyboard artist for the Georgetown Chorale since the spring of 2013 and was also appointed assistant conductor in the fall of 2015. In his role with the chorale, he serves as the accompanist for rehearsals, the performing artist for concerts, leads sectionals with all four of the Chorale's voice parts and frequently conducts and coaches the group throughout the season.
